These subjects are ‘ABCs’ for a designer. They help to solve formal graphic problems and to work with colour in 2D and later – in 3D. Students learn theoretical principles of colour, develop flexible thinking and taste. Design of costume like other designs is governed by the same basic laws of composition: proportions, rhythm, and harmony. To understand these aspects and to be able to see them clearly requires a great deal of practice, which in the future will lead to a successful work with costumes.
